1981- Eyal Raz
Raz was born in Haifa in 1954. In 1972, he was drafted into the Armor Corps. When Raz was in the first part of his commander’s course, the Yom Kippur War broke out. He was sent to command a tank on the Syrian front and later he fought by the [Suez] canal. From August of 1975, Raz served as a permanent soldier. He served for much of the time as a commander in the tank department in the Sinai and Suez Canal region. When he was released from the army, Raz began studying at the Technion where he was certified as a civil engineer. In 1981, IDF soldiers noticed a group of terrorists in the Beqaa Valley. During the chase to get the terrorists, Raz was injured and died. He was 27 years old. He left behind his wife, daughter, his parents and siblings.
