First Sergeant Yalau Yasmau
Yalau made aliyah, along with his sister and brother-in-law, from Ethiopia in 2001. He enlisted in the IDF in 2004, was released in June 2006 and ultimately called up for service at the very beginning of the war. He was killed on the third day. Yalau’s mother, who remained in the Gondar, began the long trek to the Office of the Interior the day he was killed after dreaming that something terrible had happened to her son.
