First Sergeant Major micah gottleib
Micah was born in Tel Aviv to his parents, Tzipora and Yaakov. Tzipora: “Micah grew up with the stories of his uncle from the ‘Harel’ brigade and he absorbed the love for Israel, Patriotism, and respect for the Jewish heritage. Values that we don’t hear about anymore. From a young age he was interested in weapons, he knew how to take them apart and put them together. He waited for the army and wanted to be as much of a combat soldier as he could be and go up to Lebanon. This flight was essentially his first flight to Lebanon and also his last. He loved animals and I remember that during his childhood he would come home, each time with a different pet that he gathered, once a rabbit, and once a porcupine…In the army he was given the opportunity to combine this love with his desire to be a combat soldier. He served in the “Oketz” unit where soldiers work with dogs that are trained and their mission is to discover bombs and enemy tracks. He was teamed up with the dog ‘Amber’ and they had a very strong and courageous bond.”
