2000- Rafi Zangavil
Rafi was born in Latvia in 1976. He studied at the Jewish high school in Riga and was interested in everything related to Israel. In 1995, he made Aliyah to Israel by himself. In his free time, he loved to hike and travel around Israel with his friends from Kibbutz Tzuba. Rafi wanted to give back as much as he could to the country, and requested to become a combat soldier. In 1998, Rafi was drafted into the IDF and joined the Givati brigade. His army training lasted eight months and by the end, Rafi was one of the distinguished soldiers. In January of 2000, Rafi died in southern Lebanon when a missile hit the post where he was guarding. Rafi was buried on Mount Herzl. He is survived by his parents and his brother.
