First Lieutenant Dvir Lanir
Dvir grew up on Moshav Moledet. Next to the area where he lived and loved to hike, his family established an overlook in his honor which overlooks from the Hermon until the Jordan Valley. His parents, Esti and Doron, saw this place as proof of Dvir’s character and especially his humility. Esti: “Dvir was a handsome and successful boy. He was the oldest brother that took on himself all the responsibility of what went on in the house and also over raising his brothers. He was mischievous, full of love for people and the place in which he lived. This loss is a pain that no one can understand. When I heard about the tragedy, I felt an intense pain in my heart and I felt that I couldn’t do anything. Immediately after, we were very busy with his memorial and organizing ceremonies, until I realized that it takes a lot of energy out of us and that it is enough for me to know that people remember me just as Dvir’s mom.”
Doron: “The magnitude of the tragedy forced a lot of people to give [of themselves] and support and that gives me a lot of strength. We decided that both of us do everything together to become stronger and support one another. The army is with us and its support is important to us. It was important for us to also work for the sake of the other families in every way possible. We worked for the establishment of the fund, the representation of the families, joint vacations, trips and more.”
