Major Amotz Greenberg
Major Amotz Greenberg, 45, served in the reserve corps. He was killed on Saturday, July 19, during an attack by Hamas gunmen who entered Israel through terror tunnels. He volunteered to perform his reserve duty, as he had already aged out of mandatory service. Said Yossi Keret, Greenberg’s closest friend, “He went voluntarily, out of a feeling of mission. When we sat in a pub on Thursday, I asked him why he was doing it if he didn't have to. But he just wanted to. He said, “If my soldiers are there, I don’t want to stay here.” Greenberg, from Hod HaSharon, is survived by his wife and three children ages 7,12 and 15.
