Major yarmi cohen
When he was born, Batsheva and Moshe decided to name Yarmi after Batsheva’s brother who was killed in 1970 during a military activity in the Bikaa. Batsheva: “When Yarmi was growing up, there were a lot of things in him that reminded me of my brother. When he was in Lebanon, I always worried about him. Every time I heard on the news about a difficult incident, I told myself ‘please G-d, don’t do this to me again’.”
“Yarmi was a curious child who loved to read. They called him the ‘walking encyclopedia’. He loved to play basketball, to travel and to eat. He went to a military boarding school and he wanted to be the youngest commander in the Armor brigades. And that’s what happened.”
Ziv, his sister: “He had a rich soul. After he was killed, we found a lot of things that he wrote and we discovered how sensitive he was to things. His strong laughter stills rings in my head. I remember the morning I saw him for the last time. We lived at my dad’s house. There was a nice light after a heavy rain, I accompanied him to the door and I had a hard time saying goodbye to him. The night that we heard about the tragedy, Dad immediately knew that Yarmi was there. Yarmi told him a lot about everything that had to do with the army and Dad knew that Yarmi was going to fly on that helicopter. I remember that I always thought about what he was going through…”
