Sergeant Muleto asher gidon
When Muleto made Aliyah to Israel with his family, he took his nephew, Yossi under his wing. The connection between them got stronger and more powerful and they did a lot of things together. Yossi: “The family went through difficult days in Ethiopia and escaped to Sudan. We went back to Ethiopia and escaped again. We looked for our place and as Jews we knew our place was in Israel. This tragedy that happened to us is a terrible tragedy. We didn’t know how to deal with it. I miss Muleto very much. Every Friday and Saturday morning when he was home we would run together from Lod to Ramle and back.”
Webnesh, Muleto’s mother: “In Ethiopia we lived on a village and Muleto was a sheep herder. He was the pillar of the family. When we made Aliyah to Israel, he took care of the family and quickly learned the language. He always helped us and went above and beyond. When he was alive, he allowed us to laugh. Now that he is gone, we always think about him and what happened to him.”
