sergeant major ziv balali
Ziv was a fishing enthusiast, an avid reader and mad basketball fan. Upon finishing his IDF service, Ziv pursued a degree in Middle Eastern Studies at Bar Ilan University, while taking a concurrent course in acquisitions and logistics at Tel Aviv University. He was called up for reserve duty soon after completing his qualifications, and distressingly never set off on the next stage of his life. Ziv was among 12 soldiers in Kfar Giladi who were killed by a Hezbollah-fired katyusha rocket on August 6, 2006. He was 28 years old.
