Staff Sergeant Moshe Ambao
Relatives described Moshe as someone who smiled all the time, who always dreamed of performing military service. He immigrated to Israel with his family from the Gondar region of Ethiopia in 1991 as part of Operation Solomon. Moshe had recently completed a commanders' course, and when Gilad Shalit was kidnapped in June, Moshe was called to action in Gaza. Three weeks later, he was transferred to rejoin his original battalion in Lebanon. On Friday, Moshe managed to call his parents to tell them everything was okay and that they shouldn't worry. On Monday, he was killed. "He was a person who loved to laugh and have fun," said his friend Daniel Baruch. "He loved helping people. He was smart and interested in everything. He loved reading. He was a faithful friend who you could always depend on." Moshe was killed when an anti-tank missile fired by Hezbollah terrorists struck his unit's position in Bint Jbeil in Southern Lebanon on August 7, 2006. He was 22 years old.
