1962- Tzvi Menachem Halfon (Wexler)
Tzvi Menachem was born in Haifa at the beginning of World War II and his family was one of the only ones that did not evacuate their homes in spite of the bombs that were being aimed at the port of Haifa. As a young boy, Tzvi Menachem was involved in the “United” movement and the “Air-Gadna” club where he was a counselor. In addition to his love of aviation, Tzvi Menachem was known to have a talent for graphics and sketching. In 1958, he was drafted and joined the Air Force’s radio unit. While serving, he continued to log flight hours as a pilot. In 1962, he finished the course to become an IDF teacher. After agreeing to sign on for permanent military service, Tzvi Menachem was sent to a commander course. During the course, in 1962, he died. Because of his love of radio, there is an annual, national competition for radio enthusiasts named after him.
