In his apartment in Tel Aviv, Yisrael’s little brother, Gilad, has two reproductions of Picasso, which he saved from his brother’s apartment. Gilad: “A week after the tragedy, I went into the apartment in order to clear it out. In the refrigerator there was only a tomato, on the floor was his open tennis bag, and on his voicemail there were 42 voicemails waiting-the first ones were friends that wanted to make time to play tennis with him, then there were messages from relatives who wondered if he was okay, and then there were those who called just to hear his voice, and finally there were those who left ‘goodbye’ messages. Every time we would argue and reach a dead end, we would say 42. That is the answer to life, the universe and everything else based on the book “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” written by Douglas Adams. That number has accompanied me since the tragedy- the date of the tragedy, 42 voicemails, and the number of the military area where he is buried.”
