First Sergeant Major shiloh levi
Channa, Shiloh’s mother: “The last year of Shiloh’s life was difficult. His friends, Yishai Shechter and Ori Biton Z’L were killed during military actions and Shiloh became introverted and quiet. The social and political situation in Israel hurt him very much in the years after Rabin’s assassination and the idea to give back Hebron. It was very important for Shiloh to work for the sake of brining hearts together. He became a soldier in order to make an impact and during his service he became stronger in a spiritual sense. After his death we were exposed to emotional writings of his and therefore we were able to get a wider picture of his feelings, pains, and hopes. Shiloh loved Israel very much and travelled within it often. I remember when he was little and we were on a mission in Toronto he heard a record of Yehoram Gaon and he started crying because he missed Israel.
Gad, his father: “Shiloh was very creative. He painted, built, dealt with sports and dreamed of working in agriculture. He was very close to his sisters and brother. After his friend Yishai was killed and a video was made in his honor, Shiloh said: ‘We need to lift our heads up and continue to attack.’ I feel that his words are a will for us. Since the tragedy, we decided not to become slaves to the bereavement. It isn’t obvious to make a decision like that. We do a lot of things together: travel together, talk about him, and encourage one another. We kept all of his things at home and sometimes I like to go around with his military jacket.”
