First Lieutenant alon babian
Chana, Alon’s mother: “Our greatest memorialization is to talk about Alon. We did a lot of things to memorialize him: we donated books, we fixed a Holy Ark, we have a Shiur in his honor once a month, we had a soccer competition in his honor and more. With that, the most important thing is to talk about him. We always talk about him and he is with us always. Alon was everything. A captivating guy that stood out everywhere he went despite his humility and the quietness within him. Until now people that met him along the way will tell us about him and that says a lot about him.”
Reuven, his father: “I was very close to him. He shared everything with me and we were good friends. He always told me ‘Wherever I will be, I will be the best’. He really excelled in so many things and showed the most consideration. Even with his treatment of his soldiers, he had a hard time getting upset at them. Alon also shared his experiences as a commander in the north with me, when he would get into difficult and sensitive situations frequently. He had in him a combination of sensitivity and strength. Of genteel and power.”
Chana: “The day he left for the North, I asked him if he wants to continue in the army. Alon told me that he accomplished whatever he strived to do. I was happy to hear that. He was the uniting spirit in the family. He made sure to make peace, to give good feelings [to everyone] and to create a placated atmosphere. The family was more important than anything. And it always felt that he is coming from an honest and true place.”
