First Lieutenant kobi ben shem
A week before he was killed, Kobi went with his dad, Eli, towards Netanya. On the way, they noticed paragliders. Eli: “We immediately went inside and signed up for a class. A few months after Kobi was killed, I went to take the class in his place. Ever since then, I do it almost every week, I continue what Kobi wanted. Up there, I tell him about the week that passed. That is my quality time with him.”
“Kobi lost his mother when he was seventeen. That event turned him immediately into an adult. He helped me raise his sister, Shani, and became more active in the community and in the youth movement “Hanoar Haoved” in Ramat HaSharon. Even when he would come back from the army at a later point in time, every time I noticed more maturity in him. It did me good to see that he was good.”
Kobi’s funeral was the first one that took place among the dead from the tragedy. He was buried next to his mother.
