Staff Sergeant Tal Amgar
A relative, Haim Cohen, described Tal as "a small angel who listened to everyone and gave of himself to the country without hesitation." Cohen said that "Tal was supposed to be released from the army half a year ago. He gave up on his discharge vacation and answered the call to enlist in the career army. He specialized in electronics and was in the flight operations unit of the air force, providing support to other divisions." His friends said that Tal loved surfing, mostly in the Kineret, and that he had planned to spend the weekend going on a picnic with his friends. "We had already gone shopping for the food, but it was cancelled when he went on his mission," said one of his friends. With his last month-and-a-half's salary, Tal had bought advanced surfing equipment. It was still wrapped in his room.
Tal was killed on July 14, 2006 when a Hezbollah-fired rocket hit the INS Hanit off the coast of Beirut. He was 21 years old.
