Major ronen halfon
The street in Tiberias where Ronen’s parents live is named after him. Simcha, his mother: “It makes me feel good to say that I live here. This is the place where Ronen grew up and over this house is where he flew when he was fulfilling his reserve duty. Once, he even took a picture of me from above while I was hanging laundry. Someitmes I would hear a Yisur [helicopter] and I knew he was there. This is the house where he played, studied, and matured. Today, there is a memorial corner in the place where his crib stood during his childhood.”
Dinar, his father: “Ronen was a bright, well-read guy, but he was also very humble. He always looked for ways to enrich his knowledge and enjoyed giving knowledge to his students when he worked as an educator. He was a leader everywhere and was loved by his nephews. He was about to marry his girlfriend, Tali, and a day after the tragedy happened, he was supposed to go skiing with her in Germany. Once he told her that he kept the larva of a butterfly because he felt like the larva. It was like he had a feeling that he had a short life ahead of him and that he needed to take advantage of it. The night of the tragedy is a night that I will never forget. That was the hardest place for us to experience. Since the tragedy, we talk about him a lot, even with the grandchildren. We have a lot of pictures of him at home and that way he is with us all the time.”
