1965- Yaakov Mariashin
Yaakov was born in Stalingrad in 1945 and the evidence of the desperate situation in Russia at the time- the starvation and disease- could be seen on Yaakov even in his adult years. After making Aliyah, Yaakov joined the “Young Guards” movement. Since his father was a disabled veteran, Yaakov helped manage his family’s store. Yaakov was drafted in 1963 into the Golani brigade. Despite his weak body, a weakness he had since childhood, Yaakov overcame his difficulties in the Army. He died while on duty in 1965.
